GAHARU PLANTATION PROJECT

The Gaharu Plantation project is a joint venture effort between SEDC and Hope Biotech Sdn Bhd. The site is located at Sematan with a total land size of 112.2 hectares (227.25 acres). There are a total of 22 species of Gaharu trees in the world of which 5 species can be found in Malaysia. We shall be planting Aquilaria Sinensis Gaharu species.

COCONUT PLANTATION PROJECT

SEDC embarks on coconut plantation in 2006. The site is located at Asajaya. The total land size is 486 acres. SEDC through its partner Cocolin Sdn Bhd manages the coconut plantation business focusing on the Matag and Mawar species. Fresh and young coconuts shall be sold to traders as drinking water. Matured coconuts shall be sold to coconut processing plant for them to produce activated carbon for water filters, extraction of gold and others. Coconut fibers can be processed into cushions, mattresses and so on. Old coconuts shall be sent to coconut milk (santan) processing plants to be processed into coconut cream powder.

OIL PALM PLANTATION

SEDC recently embarks on another oil palm plantation at Karabungan Farm, Miri through a joint venture company namely SPB PPES Karabungan Plantation Sdn Bhd (joint venture between SEDC and Sarawak Plantation Berhad). The site is located 75 km away from the town of Miri. The total land size is 369 hectares (913 acres).
